As always it’s been a busy week here at Tap East towers!

In the brewhouse Josh has been busy brewing two days this week. On Tuesday he brewed a collaboration beer with homebrewer Giddon Litman that which was a prize for 2nd place, best in show at the LAB Open homebrewing competition back in the summer. We helped sponsor it and our prize was a brewday with a professional!

Together Josh and Giddon have come up with a 7.2% Weizenbock which will be launched on the 17th October as part of our 8th birthday celebrations!

On Wednesday Josh also brewed our popular Smokestack Porter, the 6% smokey porter that was originally brewed in collaboration with former Goose Island brewmaster Greg Hall. It’s proved so popular since then that we’ve brewed it several more times!

As many of you already know our owners Mike and Rich also own Utobeer and The Rake based in Borough Market. This December marks 20 years that Utobeer have been trading so we (and they) will be brewing a beer next week to mark the occasion! U20Beer will be a British style IPA with hop varieties that were around in the 1999 and this year! Come along and say hi on the brewday if you’re around east London! It’s going to be on Thursday 3rd October!

House brews on the bar this week have been No.6 Blonde, our multi award winning East End Mild and Session IPA on cask and our new collaboration with Pillars Brewery, East is East on keg!

Josh brewed it at Pillars because we have such limited tank space but also wanted to provide you lovely people with a flavourful German style lager! The result is superb and becoming a great favourite already!

Did you know we’re doing food every day now? We have a menu of delicious freshly homemade burgers on offer along with some tasty snacks too!

There’s also an offer on our burgers where you can get a burger and one of our Tap East cask ales for just £12.00 which we think is an absolute bargain!

For those of you who are West Ham united fans the next home game is Saturday 5th October, come along to us for a pre-match pint or two!*

*Please note that all drinks are served in plastic glasses on matchdays.
